HARVEST SUPPER in Church
Who are we & what do we do?
Dunton Parish Church Friends are a group of enthusiastic folk who meet to plan events to fund raise and care for our ancient parish church of St Mary Magdalene. We extend a warm welcome to anyone who wishes to join us - there is no annual fee we simply want people, young and old, to share our interest and enthusiasm as we have fun and work to maintain the fabric of the church here in Dunton.
Our Parish Church may be ancient but we are not keepers of a museum but rather a living building.
We cherish our history but know that to be real the church must adapt and change as we seek to be a place where the church can meet as well as provide a space for other events and activities.
The Parochial Church Council (PCC) has received the recent 2013 Quinquennial Report - this is completed by our Architect every five years and describes the condition of the building and lists any work required. (It's not unusual to have a rather long list - like any building)
The list is divided up into work which needs to be completed within 12 months and then over the next 5 years.
The Friends Group have taken on the task of looking at this list of works and working with the PCC to complete as much as possible.
We have great fun at our Committee meetings as we arrange various fund raising events to raise the money needed for our work.
Our Chairman, Enid, would love to welcome more people who are willing to become
Friends of Dunton Parish Church.
The next planning meeting will be held on Monday 20th March 2017 at 7.30pm in The March Hare. We'd love to have more friends and supporters so please come along and make yourself known.
